I'm building a tool that automatically reconciles bank transactions against invoices for small accounting firms (2 to 20 people) in the UK. Find 4 companies that would be good leads. Companies only, with the job title to target, but please don't include names of individual people or personal LinkedIn pages.
Skill: lead-research-assistant
WebSearch: {"query": "small independent accounting firm UK cloud accounting Xero practice bookkeeping small team"}
WebSearch: {"query": "UK accountancy practice \"our team\" small firm Xero QuickBooks gold partner bookkeeping SME"}

Here are 4 UK firms that look like a fit. I haven't verified headcount for any of them, so check each is in the 2–20 range before you reach out.

# Company Location Target job title Why they fit
1 JacRox Manchester Practice Manager (or Managing Partner/Director if there's no practice manager) A Xero Gold Partner offering bookkeeping, VAT and payroll to SMEs on fixed monthly fees. Fixed fees make time spent on manual reconciliation come straight out of their margin.
2 Simplex Accounting UK Director / Founder An exclusive Xero practice for small businesses. All their client work runs through bank feeds, so reconciliation is central to what they do.
3 de Jong Phillips UK Managing Partner Xero Small Firm of the Year 2022, with every accountant Xero-certified. They already use cloud tools and are likely open to adding automation.
4 Naylor Accountancy Southampton Practice Manager or Managing Director A QuickBooks ProAdvisor Elite and Xero Gold Partner. Working across both platforms means they handle varied bank and invoice data.
  • Titles: In firms this small, the owner usually makes the buying decision. Start with the Practice Manager where one exists, and otherwise go to the Director or Partner.
  • Integrations: All four use Xero or QuickBooks, so integrations with those two will matter in your pitch.
  • Beyond these four: Beany and Meru Accounting also came up in the search, so I can research those or find more.

Real run recorded with claude-code / claude-sonnet-5-5. Web search (WebSearch) was enabled. The company details come from its search results at the time and we have not verified each one. The prompt asked for companies and job titles only, with no personal names. The model output is unmodified.

What it does

Helps you build a list of prospects: it works out who your ideal customer is, searches for matching companies and ranks them by fit.

How it works

  1. Understands your product, from your description or by reading your codebase, and defines an ideal customer profile (industry, size, place, pain points, tech).
  2. Searches for companies that match and looks for signals of need such as hiring, tech stack, news or funding.
  3. Scores each lead out of 10 and gives the reason for the fit, the job title to target, a value proposition and conversation starters.
  4. Offers a CRM-ready CSV, draft outreach messages and deeper research on the best leads.

Good for

Sales prospecting, partnership research and early customer discovery.

Worth knowing

In our trial, with web search enabled, it returned four UK accounting firms with sources, said it had not verified their headcount, and suggested job titles rather than individual names, as we asked.

Notes & risks

Pure instruction file: no scripts. It needs your agent's web search to find companies, and what it returns comes from live search results that we did not verify. It may suggest decision-maker roles and LinkedIn pages, and handling people's personal details for outreach is subject to privacy and anti-spam rules where you operate. Check each lead yourself before contacting anyone. The skill folder has no licence file of its own. The licence basis is the source repository's README, which declares the whole repository Apache-2.0 and notes that individual skills may differ. The package also contains LICENSE (the full Apache-2.0 text) and SOURCE.txt (a source and licence-basis note added by AIBars).
