1. Project Overview
Marketing Skills is an open-source collection of 50+ ready-to-use marketing "skills" for AI coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor and Windsurf. It helps technical marketers and founders hand conversion optimization, copywriting, SEO, analytics and growth work to an AI agent with consistent, expert-written guidance.
2. Background & Positioning
Why it was created
AI agents are capable, but they produce generic marketing output when given vague prompts. Marketing Skills packages proven playbooks (page CRO, cold email, programmatic SEO, pricing and more) as Markdown instruction files that an agent loads on demand. The mission is to let people who build products also run credible marketing, without rewriting the same prompts each time.
How it differs from similar projects
- Marketing-specific: most skill collections focus on coding workflows; this one covers the full marketing funnel.
- Interconnected: skills reference shared context. A foundation skill,
product-marketing, captures product, audience and positioning once, and the other skills build on it. - Cross-agent: it follows the open Agent Skills specification, so the same files work across several agent platforms.
- Plain Markdown: no runtime or service is needed; skills are readable, forkable and editable.

- Broad coverage: 50+ skills spanning the funnel from acquisition to retention and revenue operations.
- Shared foundation context: the
product-marketingskill stores product and audience context that other skills reuse, which keeps output consistent. - Cross-skill dependency map: the documentation shows how skills relate, so an agent can chain them.
- Multiple agents supported: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, Windsurf and any agent that supports the Agent Skills specification.
- Flexible installation: CLI, Claude Code plugin, Codex plugin, clone-and-copy, git submodule or SkillKit.
- Install only what you need: the CLI can add selected skills instead of the whole set.
5. Use Cases by Role
- General developers and indie founders: write landing page copy, set up analytics, plan a launch and improve sign-up conversion without hiring a specialist first.
- Technical marketers: run SEO audits, build programmatic SEO pages, design A/B tests and produce ad creative in bulk.
- Data/research scientists: use
customer-research,analyticsandattributionto structure research synthesis and measurement plans. - Project/product managers: use
marketing-plan,launch,pricingandonboardingto align product changes with go-to-market work. - DevOps/SRE and security engineers: not a primary audience; the project does not target infrastructure or security work.

10. FAQ
Q: Which AI agents does it work with?
A: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, Windsurf and any agent supporting the Agent Skills specification. See agentskills.io.
Q: Do I have to install all the skills?
A: No. Use npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill cro copywriting to add only the ones you want.
Q: Where should I start?
A: Set up product-marketing first, since other skills reuse its product and audience context. Then try cro, copywriting or seo-audit on a real page.
Q: Does it require an API key or a hosted service?
A: The skills themselves are Markdown files and need no service. Your agent platform may require its own account or API access.
Q: Can I add my own skill?
A: Yes. Follow CONTRIBUTING.md and open a pull request.
