Ledgerly pricing page: CRO review
Baseline: 60 paid signups from 4,000 visits is 1.5% visit-to-paid. Page type is pricing, the goal is paid signup, and 70% of traffic is mobile. I'm treating mobile as the primary experience. Traffic source is unknown, which I flag in the last section.
Quick Wins (implement now)
- Replace the "Submit" button. "Submit" describes a form, not an outcome. A grey button also reads as disabled. Use a high-contrast brand color and a different label per plan:
- Free: "Start free"
- Pro: "Start Pro free for 14 days" (only if you offer a trial; otherwise "Get Pro")
- Team: "Start with Team"
- Highlight one plan, probably Pro. Add a "Most popular" badge, a stronger border and a filled button. Leave Free and Team with outlined buttons. Right now the visitor has to work out which plan fits, with no guidance.
- Move testimonials up. Put one or two short, attributed quotes directly under the plan cards, and ideally one inside the Pro card. Proof should sit next to the price decision, not below the fold.
- Add a risk reducer under the buttons. For example "No credit card required · Cancel anytime", or a money-back guarantee if you can honor one. This is the cheapest answer to "what if it doesn't work?"
- Fix the headline. "Pricing that works for you" says nothing about bookkeeping or outcomes (see the copy options below).
High-Impact Changes (prioritize)
- Mobile layout (70% of traffic). Don't stack three equal cards that make people scroll to compare.
- Put the recommended plan first, or use a monthly/annual toggle with swipeable cards.
- Make buttons full-width with large tap targets.
- Keep a sticky CTA for the recommended plan.
- Collapse feature lists to the 4–5 items that differ between plans.
- Add "who it's for" lines to each plan. For example "Freelancers just getting started", "Solo businesses ready to automate", "Teams with an accountant or bookkeeper". This directly addresses the "which plan is right for me?" anxiety.
- Add an FAQ block below the cards. Cover:
- Can I switch or cancel any time?
- What happens to my data if I downgrade?
- Is there a free trial, and does it need a card?
- Do you support my country's tax setup?
- Is my financial data secure?
- What does Team include (seat limits, roles)?
- Add a guarantee and trust cluster. Include a money-back or trial guarantee, security and bank-grade encryption wording, and any integrations or accountant endorsements. For financial software, trust is a main blocker.
- Make the Free-to-Pro and Pro-to-Team differences obvious. Use a short comparison table with the one or two features that drive upgrades, and state the Pro value in outcome terms such as "saves ~X hours a month".
- Add an annual option. Show it as "2 months free" or a similar discount. This raises revenue per signup and commitment, and it makes the monthly price look more reasonable.
Test Ideas
Sample size is a constraint here. At about 1.5% baseline conversion and 4,000 visits a month, detecting a 20% relative lift needs roughly 25,000 visitors per variant. That is over a year of traffic for a clean A/B test, so small copy tweaks won't reach significance. Instead:
- Ship the quick wins together as one redesign and compare before and after. Check for seasonality and traffic mix changes, and track mobile and desktop separately.
- Reserve true A/B tests for big swings, where you'd expect a 50% or greater lift.
- Add per-plan click-through and plan-selection tracking now. It costs nothing and tells you where people drop off, which matters more than headline testing at this volume.
Hypotheses worth testing once traffic or a larger effect size justifies it:
- Free plan prominence: de-emphasized versus equal. Does a prominent Free plan cannibalize paid signups, or feed upgrades?
- Monthly versus annual as the default toggle.
- Trial-based CTA versus "Get started" on Pro.
- Testimonials above versus below the cards.
Copy Alternatives
Headline
- "Simple bookkeeping, simple pricing. Start free." Clear category, with a risk-free hook.
- "Stop dreading your books. Pick a plan and be done in minutes." Pain-led and outcome-focused (adjust to a claim you can support).
- "Bookkeeping that pays for itself. Start free, upgrade when you grow." Frames price as value and explains the plan ladder.
Pro button
- "Start Pro free for 14 days" if a trial exists. It states the offer and lowers the risk.
- "Get Pro: $19/month" is a clear, honest alternative if there is no trial.
- "Try Pro risk-free" works if you add a guarantee.
Below the buttons
- "No credit card required. Cancel anytime."
- "30-day money-back guarantee."
Questions that would sharpen this
- Where does the traffic come from (organic, paid, referral)? Message match matters a lot for paid.
- Is there a trial, and what happens after the button click? A weak signup flow can look like a pricing page problem.
- Do you have heatmaps or session recordings, especially on mobile? They would confirm where people stall.
- What has already been tried?
Real run in an isolated folder with only this skill installed. Only the Skill and Read tools were enabled, so nothing was fetched from the web and no file was written. The example is fictional. The page is described by hand, so no live page was inspected.
Was es macht
.agents/product-marketing.md, falls vorhanden.
